My story isn’t dramatic by any means. Nobody is calling me trying to buy the movie rights. I haven’t overcome major adversity or battled with addiction. That’s not to say I’ve lived a perfect life (far from it). Fortunately, my journey has been blessed with amazing family, friends, and music all along the way.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved creating music. While most kids were forced into taking piano lessons, I begged my parents for them. Until those began, I would spend time at the piano teaching myself basic melodies by ear or just enjoying the variety of sounds I could make. This fascination never wavered as I’ve learned (and sometimes taught myself) to play new instruments including guitar, drums, trumpet, French horn, and others.
My growth musically was especially nurtured through my church.
Every Sunday morning my family worshiped at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Marion, Ohio. My mom likes to tell the story of me standing on the pew and “conducting” the congregation during hymns. Through my time at Emanuel, I’ve been involved in almost every aspect of music available. I’ve sung in, accompanied, and directed choirs. I’m an active member of the Contemporary Praise Team where I sing and sometimes fill in on drums. I’ve even spent some time playing with the handbell choir.
I’m married to the most amazing, supportive, and patient woman I’ve ever known. She’s not only my best friend, but also the mother of our 2 beautiful, silly, energetic little girls. My day job in marketing allows me to keep those creative juices flowing all day long (and get paid for it).
